I went to check out a qualifying AP essay to help my kid grasp the grading rubric. I found a document I wanted to access, and it said I could unlock 10 documents for $19.95. I went ahead and paid, but turns out it was a subscription. I’m usually pretty vigilant about these things, and I honestly think the way I got to the payment page didn’t make it clear that it was a subscription. The payment page talked about a fee for service, but the receipt didn’t mention anything about recurring charges. If I had known, I would’ve canceled right away. The documents I got were old and not useful at all. The phone number on my statement? Yeah, it’s out of service. They only offer chat support, and all they do is send you template responses. No refunds either. I asked for a refund on 2 of the 3 payments and wanted them to look into whether the subscription info was missing from the breadcrumbs due to their mistakes. I also asked them to check how much I actually used their site. It was just once to look at a few documents for $20. Total waste of money. I won’t dispute the $40 charge, but I’m definitely going to write reviews to warn others.
